Lindsay Bell (aka Coach Bell)
I was introduced to CrossFit at the ripe old age of 15 through Ken (Coach) as an off- season training program and I was hooked right away. It very quickly went from a training regime to my primary sport, passion, and work (not really what I would call work). I was certified in 2008 and received my level II in 2009.
CrossFit has been and is such a large part of my life. It has taught me about fitness, nutrition, pain, pleasure, accomplishment, goals, myself, failure, success, and to move beyond my comfort levels to reach for the “impossible” and then move even higher. It is an endless cycle of growth and improvement and there is not a day or WOD that goes by that doesn't challenge me.
I am very grateful for all of the clients and friends I have made over the years and the successes and fun we have had and will continue to have together. Whether it be someone getting their first pull-up, having a (few) drinks or a hike with some unexpected weather in the mountains, we are all apart of each others endeavors where we laugh and suffer together. Itʼs an amazing community full of support and encouragement that can help take you to your goals and better yet to the things you thought you could never do!
Currently I am also a student at the University of Calgary in the faculty of Kinesiology,
an aspiring CrossFit games competitor, and I have a beautiful dog (Tasha) that you will
see running around the gym with Sadie begging you to play fetch with her. ***if you start
the fetch game it will never end ;).
Geoff Rainsford
I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. Began CrossFit in September 2009 after I had a close friend train CrossFit in preparation for the upcoming lacrosse season, and saw how much CrossFit had helped improve his lacrosse. I am student studying history and education at the University of Calgary. In the end hoping to become a high school social studies teacher but would also like to continue training and coaching CrossFit.
Sports has always been a large part of my life. From playing various sports as a child like hockey, baseball, basketball, soccer and golf. As I got older I focused more in on lacrosse. I played several years of Junior "A" lacrosse, including the inaugural year of the Jr. A Calgary Mountaineers. Since then I have gone onto be drafted into the National Lacrosse League by my hometown Calgary Roughnecks in 2007. I also played in the 2007 and 2011 Indoor Lacrosse World Championships with Ireland.
Like many former athletes I fell in love with CrossFit because its competitive nature. I love being able to test myself against other people and see how I match up. The one thing I never expected, and coincidentally have grown to love about CrossFit is how much of a support structure it has. Everyone supports everyone else, its like one big happy family, that goes through a lot of extraordinary and painful things together.
The most rewarding element of CrossFit from a coaching perspective, is seeing my athletes around the gym progress and do things they never thought they would be able to do. Seeing how excited someone is after getting there first unassisted pull up, or doing through their first prescribed workout is what keeps me coming back for more as a coach.

Chris Fenlon-Macdonald
Originally from London, Ontario, Chris ‘Fen-Mac’ started CrossFit in 2004 when a good friend of his suggested he give this ‘cool workout’ a try. Little did Chris know that a number of years later, he would be hooked! It did take a few tries, but after being consistent, reading a bit and asking a few questions he came to relize the full potential of CrossFit.
Chris’ move to Calgary has been nothing but a straight line. After leaving Southern Ontario, Chris moved to Thunder Bay, joined the Canadian Forces and started his first year of university, later graduating from Lakehead University with an Honours Bachelor of Outdoor Education and Bachelor of Arts Geography. Soon after graduation Chris worked full-time as a Reservist in Winnipeg, MB where he was first introduced to CrossFit. Four short years later he was posted to Edmonton, than eventually left this position to pursue a Graduate Diploma in Education in New South Wales, Australia. It was in Australia that Chris was certified as a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and really became involved in the culture that surrounds CrossFit and.
“CrossFit has made it’s way into my life and has become a lifestyle. CrossFit, and especially CrossFit Ramsay, is like a family. Sappy I know, but really, it’s a community that brings people of similar beliefs together, all trying to achieve a similar goal. Anywhere you go, all over the world, there are people like you and I. And each one of them would be happy to train together – now that’s different to the average gym or fitness fad! I’ve been fortunate to take my certification in Australia and though we’re separated by vast amounts ocean, the camaraderie shared between CrossFit’ers is exactly the same”.
Chris has been heavily involved in sport and fitness all of his life having participated and competed in biathlon, ski-mountaineering, climbing, adventure races and mountain marathons. However, none of these sports has given him results like CrossFit.
“Like many CrossFit athletes, I wish I found CrossFit much sooner. I can only imagine the benefits it would have given me in High School and University athletics!”
Chris has been coaching for a while and really enjoys seeing those new to CrossFit discover their athletic potential. Known for his success at teaching CrossFit to beginners, he is equally capable of finding a much-needed cue for a seasoned CrossFit’er or holding his own during a ‘grinder’ of a WOD.

Ryan Bonnett
Ryan grew up in southern saskatchewan and moved to alberta in 2004. Growing up he played many sports including baseball, track and field, badmonton, volleyball and Hockey. Hockey was his primary focus where he had some success and played Jr.B and jr.A in Saskatchewan. During University Ryan quit playing hockey and picked up refereeing and has been doing so ever since. Colleagues in the ref world have affectionately names him “Bones”. Now Ryan Referee’s WHL, AJHL and CIS in the winter months.
Ryan began crossfitting 2 years ago on a challenge from a referee friend. At that time he was struggling to get gains and accomplish some of his fitness goals. His first workout was Angie. He started it and after 33 minutes of pain he completed it. “What have I been doing to stay in shape the last 7 years?” Was my thoughts after the WOD. After that he was hooked.
This past year Ryan competed in The western canadian crossfit regionals in Vancouver. “I figured out that I have a lot to learn” was the post games reaction. After that he came to Crossfit Ramsay in search of a coach and has been enjoying beginning part of the community ever since.
“I really enjoying helping people 1 on 1 and getting hem to do things they never though they could. It’s awesome to see.”

Dylan Kranenburg
Raised in the West Kootenays of BC in the small mountain town of Nelson. The appreciation I gained for outdoors and the all the fun to be had there was fostered by growing up in such a place and being active in ski mountaineering, rock climbing and mountain biking. I still love to backcountry ski and chase the odd fish with my fly rod.
Having always been active and competitive with an attraction for the alternative to the mainstream, I found Crossfit. Initially I was intimidated by the WODs and had images of this pukie character in my head while in the gym. However this passed, and now when faced with new or difficult situations I find myself thinking, someone else has done it, it is possible, compete. I have been a Crossfitter since 2004. One of my favourite quotes comes from a big mountain freeride skier, Seth Morrison, and I think it adds a little spice when contemplating life. "If you're not falling, you're not trying".
I am a full time paramedic/firefighter who is also a fitness trainer for the department. I love to coach and see the improvement in peoples foundational movements.
Here's a few of the certifications I have:
- Crossfit Level 1 Trainer
- NCCP Olympic Lifting Level 1
- ACE Peer Fitness Trainer
- Trout Whisperer
